Character Name: Larxene
Series: Kingdom Hearts II / CoM
Age: 19
Physical Description: Tall (5' 9"), lithe, and angular, Larxene is more than just a pretty face. Sure, she's not particularly curvaceous, and her body's a little more slim than is probably healthy, but she's got killer hips and shoulderblades that could cut glass. Most of her body weight is made up of muscle that isn't readily apparent (unless she flexes, and men have been known to pause when they see her do it). A lot of her bones are a bit more prominent than they should be, but that's part of her personal appeal - her collarbones are almost always visible, and her hipbones follow a similar trend, something she knows men (and women!) like and is fully willing to manipulate. Her eyes are somewhat large with long lashes, her body is always tilted at a slight angle, and her lips are constantly curved upward in a mocking smirk ... overall, she gives off an aura of sexuality and smugness, as well as a distance that no-one can ever hope to breach.
Her skin is a light peach in color with a dusty tan all over, and her eyes are an incredibly bright shade of teal (which makes them stand out all the more, since her lashes are rather long and dark to begin with). Her hair is also fairly bright, a shining pale-blonde in color, that's almost boyishly short, going down only to the nape of her neck. However, there are two antennae-like locks of her hair that stick up out of the top, first going up, then quickly smoothing back - people have made insect comments to her before, much to her chagrin. Still, she doesn't mind them, finding them to be another part of her charm rather than an irritation addition.
As for clothing ... Larxene's not shy at all, and it's readily apparent in the way she dresses. On a normal day, she wears black breeches, high-lacing boots that nearly pass her knees, a dark-colored corset (usually ranging from black to red, with the occasional blue for the hell of it) with a low-necked shirt under it that, conveniently, shows off her collarbones, and a pair of fingerless gloves that go to her wrists. Still, she is a lady - she has quite a few outfits, and she really doesn't have a "usual" outfit. One day she could be wearing the above-mentioned set; the next, a black leather getup with a vest over the corset and gloves that pass her elbows ... it's all according to her mood, really. But regardless: her collarbones are always showing. Always. And she keeps a definite sex appeal about her at all times.
Personality: The common conception of Larxene is that she's the biggest bitch this side of the universe, and it's pretty much true. She's cold, cruel, irritating, bitchy, mean, sadistic, a sore loser and a bad winner, a pain-in-the-ass, has no qualms with lying ... the list could go on for all eternity without ever finding enough words to describe her. Basically, she's not a nice person, and she enjoys not being nice. She baits people with harsh words and doesn't care how much they're hurt by them, and her sarcastic snark streaks are known to be miles wide.
It doesn't help that she also tends to be fairly flirtatious. Larxene enjoys seducing people for the sheer fun of breaking their hearts ... or their balls. If she thinks it'll be fun, she'll go ahead and lure a man or woman into bed with her (she's quite a fan of the concept of fluid sexuality, although she's not particularly interested in sex at all - rather than bisexual, she'd best be labeled as asexual), get a night's entertainment, and then leave - sometimes taking all their valuables, including their clothes, with her. Or she'll get them into bed and proceed to torment them both mentally and physically, or get them all hot and bothered ... and then leave. It's all part of her mean streak - she just loves to toy with people's feelings. And if she can use her manipulative abilities to pretend to be a Damsel In Distress and get a man to take care of a debtor or irritant for her ... well, then, save me, oh mighty prince~!
To add a final kick in the pants, Larxene has a fairly short temper. Sure, when it comes to a battle of wits, she's pretty much fully armed and can hold her own in a snarktastic conversation, but her wits and street smarts are from years on the ocean and among bitter slaves, and her formal education is severely lacking. So when a conversation gets beyond her realm of understanding or goes on for too long, she gets irritated, and she'll go off without warning. A little like a volcano, actually - she's constantly simmering and spewing out acid words, but once in a while she'll absolutely explode (sometimes it's easy to see coming, and sometimes all it takes is a hair-trigger) and be nothing but blazing hot rage that usually results in a slew of deaths or cripplings - it doesn't help that her moral compass is either missing or has totally reversed polarity. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to happen often.
Abilities/Strengths/Weaponry: A total lack of morals (see note about the moral compass above) allows Larxene to go through life unhindered by any worries about whether what she's doing is Right or not, so that gives her an advantage when it comes to dealing with people (since most others will give a little bit of pause when it comes to kicking puppies and the like). She's also fairly guiltless, so people have a harder time getting her to stop doing foul deeds ... and yes, this is a strength.
She's also a pretty good fighter. She prefers using small knives and daggers (keeping innumerable amounts of them on her person at all times) but is just as disposed to using a gun or rapier, and if it comes down to it, she'll gladly go into a fistfight and brawl like a proper pirate. Sure, she might not necessarily win, but she'll typically leave her opponent just as badly off as she winds up being - she's strong from years of hard labor. And don't think she won't cheat, either - putting out someone's eyes with a hidden knife is just another means to the end.
Weaknesses: Because of her sharp, bitchy attitude, Larxene makes hoards more enemies than allies, and thus brings a lot of animosity onto herself. She's not very good at making friends or being gentle or genial, either, which doesn't help the situation any - she basically has no-one to rely on, and probably never will because of her constant distancing of everyone around her. While she does have physical strength, her rather slim frame limits it somewhat, and she can only hold her own against someone larger for a short time. She also takes any jabs to her misunderstanding words or missing points extremely personally, and will rush into a rage if pushed too far; these rages, while infrequent, completely blot out any common sense or self-preservation she might have and lead her to be extremely reckless.
Her criminal intentions and lack of care for laws or morals also tends to get her in trouble with whatever form of law might be around far more frequently than anyone would like - she's spent time in jail, and almost certainly will again in the future.
History: Born a slave to a slave on a sugarcane plantation on Destiny Island, Larxene's life had a fairly bleak outlook from the very beginning. Where her parents were from was both unknown and unimportant; the fact remained that they were slaves, their master lived in Ephesus, and it was a rare occasion for any of the ten slaves belonging to said master to ever go to the city. No, they stayed out in the fields, working the hard work and reaping almost none of the rewards. Although that wasn't to say they were treated badly - life was much better than it would have been if the family had lived on either of the Hell's Eyes, and they had more than enough food and shelter to keep them safe and happy. Still, being a slave was a difficult life, and from the time she could crawl Larxene was put to work doing menial tasks, and as soon as she could walk she was put into the fields.
Her parents had been captured slaves, and so neither were particularly pleased with living under extremely limited freedom. Their anger and bitterness quickly passed down to her, along with the irritation at working in the fields day in and day out with no rewards except the idiotic thought that they should be happy to be living in such a wonderful place instead of poor but free on Tartarus or Naraka. And since she was so young, she became jaded at an age far earlier than she should have.
The rare trips into the merchant quarters of Ephesus were what taught Larxene most of what she knew about the outside world as well as the sharp wit and insults she would later use so cruelly. She learned how to be a shrewd bargainer from the other slaves she worked with and her parents, and after befriending a few of the lesser-moraled slaves from other households, picked up how to be stealthy and steal when people weren't looking. She quickly began to put these things into practice, and by age ten, Larxene was a sharp-tongued, angry thief of a little girl with a tendency to skip her work and not learn her lesson when she was punished as a result.
At around age twelve, Larxene was fed up with working as a slave and was starting plans for escape - at this point, she had given up on taking her parents with her, since they had to work and while still angry at their situation, didn't seem to have any drive to get away of their own volition. Around then, their owner was taking his yearly tally of the slaves when he noticed her. Certainly she was not particularly beautiful, especially considering her boyish looks at the time, but he saw the potential for a stunning young woman. He took her back to Ephesus with him - and she put up no resistance, seeing it as both a release from hard labor and from her low-spirited fellow slaves.
But her job in her owner's mansion at Ephesus? A maid. This so infuriated Larxene that she nearly ran away her first night there. But after a few days of working (still hard labor, although not as hard as before) she started finding advantages in being a low-level serving maid in a high-class city: she could often go unnoticed in a room where important people were talking and learn more information about the world around her than she ever dreamed of knowing. And, staying with the other maids, she picked up the typical nuances of at least a middle-class teenage girl - gossip, backstabbing, the subtle art of being intricately feminine - and quickly put those to use just as much as her petty thievery. Larxene was, essentially, able to retain any information she heard and trade it among her compatriots, and when she got a particularly juicy bit of information, would often escape the mansion and sell it in the streets and bars.
At fourteen, when her beauty had started coming to a peak but didn't seem to be going in the direction her owner originally thought it would (less a stunning woman with soft features and bedroom eyes and more a sharp, arrogant woman with a wild sort of beauty), she was put at a lower level than simply a serving maid - she was dropped into the kitchen. Again, her rage knew no limits, and this time was fueled by the mansion's chef, a one-legged man who had been crippled after nearly six escape attempts in his youth. Taking an immediate interest in the furious and sharp-tongued girl, he started teaching her to fight with knives (there were plenty of them in the kitchens, and he had been a pirate in his younger days, captured and enslaved before his prime was out). Larxene delighted in the bloodshed that could result from a good fight and began to learn on her own - after all, a chef's girl was much less watched than any of the regular maids. She kept up her information-gathering and selling, which suddenly became a prime commodity: her master was one of the revolutionaries.
When she was fifteen, the revolution broke out, and her owner (and his family) was killed and his assets seized. All of his slaves were taken to another plantation and set to work. Back in the world of hard manual labor, Larxene seethed and plotted for a year before a revolutionary counterattack struck the plantation and mansion where she was working. She, along with a good number of the other slaves, joined the revolutionaries and tore the place to shreds, murdering everyone who opposed them. She fought with them for a good two years, until finally she decided it was time she took her business elsewhere. (It was fortunate for her that she left when she did; barely six months after her disappearance, the revolution was crushed.) Using stolen money, she bought herself new clothes, some knives, a gun, and passage onto a pirate ship, where she quickly proved her worth and was accepted into the crew.
For yet another two years, Larxene jumped from ship to ship and crew to crew, never satisfied with where she was and always wanting to find something more interesting. She gained a reputation for being one hell of a bitch and a murderer to boot, which pleased her beyond belief. Most of the crews she left when they were already under a mutiny or had been captured or destroyed by storms, raids, or other pirates, so she constantly assumed she had a clean slate to work off of. Eventually, she hopped a ship that was going from a port in Destiny to Tartarus, and not long afterward, stepped off the ship onto the docks of Illyria ...
